Day 38: CEO or Baby?

Try to hate on this comb-over. I dare you. I freaking love it. Carl gives me crap about not cutting it yet, but I think it's adorable like this. It is super cute in a little faux hawk too.

It has been so incredibly hot that we've been finding ways to play inside. I let Carson run at Chick-fil-A today while Max and I tried to do some work. Max can be quite distracting though...

On Monday he cut the top tooth we've been waiting and waiting for, then that same day cut the one under it on bottom that I wasn't expecting. Then Tuesday morning he cut a molar! I knew that his back gums were really swollen, but I didn't expect the molar so soon. The baby book says it is right on time though.

Day 35: Nuzzled

After a busy day on Saturday we hung out around the house on Sunday. We typically watch a movie during nap time on Sundays and Carl loves getting to snuggle with Max during this time. At one point he started to wake up and then curled back up asleep like this. I had to run for the camera! He was so nuzzled into Daddy.

It has been unbearably hot here. We were just saying that we are missing the afternoon rain when it started raining. Carson stripped off his shirt and went out frolicking. He soon found out that even if it's hot outside, the rain is verrrry cold!

Day 34: Wellington Lake

We got up early on Saturday morning and headed for Bailey with Christy, Andy and Dustin to spend the day at Wellington Lake. It was absolutely gorgeous! The water was cold, but they still swam...not me! It was warm enough that sitting on the shore with my feet in the water was heavenly though. We are always on the lookout for good mountain lakes, but they rarely have any beach area to spend time at. This place had it around the entire perimeter. It was a good day lounging and soaking up some summer sun with the kiddos.
My favorite part was showing Carson all the schools of fish swimming by. We decided we thought they were actually tadpoles, but Carson kept calling them "tattlepoles". It was adorable.

I hung out in the shade with Max most of the time. It was just too hot to have him out in the sun. And his skin is still so soft white and perfect that I really don't want him to get burned. Carson already has a full-on permanent farmer's tan.

Day 33: Writing on the wall

I completely forgot we had these window crayons. I think I was having more fun than Carson was! Unfortunately I've never been able to draw hardly anything and I don't think Carson is going to be any better. We're quite the team when he tells me what I should draw.

After they woke up from their nap a wrestling match ensued. I call Max a bulldozer because he just steamrolls right over anyone on the floor. Carson is so good with him and lays there and takes it.

Story time this morning.
Story time today was.....exhausting. We'll be prepared next time @nikbra528 :)

Day 32: Phone home

The electronics obsession is in full swing....

Day 31: Zooed Out

After a few days of heat up to 100 degrees I saw that today was going to only be a high of 80. I've been thinking about getting a membership to the zoo this year since our museum one expired and I'm a little bored with two years at that place. It was nice and cool and cloudy this morning so it made for the absolute PERFECT day to spend outside. I couldn't have imagined better weather. We were there from 9am-1pm and only left because my legs were like jelly after pushing that stupid heavy stroller for so long. Carson even said his pants were hurting his legs, whatever that meant. This was Max's first trip to the zoo too. The last time we went he was still in my belly. I think. At least I don't remember taking him to the zoo yet......

As soon as we walked in we saw that all the lions were awake and eating. I've never seen one awake at the Denver zoo so it was really cool to watch 4 of them interact. Lots of the animals were up and going today!

As a pink lover, flamingos are one of my very favorite animals to watch.

I was giddy when I saw this sign! One of favorite memories (and photos) from childhood is standing at the same kind of sign at Hogle Zoo. I'll have to have my mom dig mine out. :)

After a good 3 hours Max finally laid back and crashed. He refused for so long, I'm sure because there was just so much to look at.

He won't let me get out of the zoo without a ride on the carousel and the train. I didn't think we'd make it on the train because Max was sleeping, but he woke up just in time.

I took this pic with my phone. Carson was right up to the glass and this hyena walked up face-to-face with him. Unfortunately, I think I know where his head was at and I'm thankful for thick glass.
Dinner? I don't trust that guy.

But my favorite moment was when we were watching the kangaroos. Carson looked at me and said, "Mommy, did you know kangaroos have very special pockets?" I asked him what they are for and he said, "their little babies". I didn't know he knew that and it made me smile.

And now I am seriously zooed out. Like my body is dead. I'm actually thinking that going there for a few hours every week or two is a great idea for exercise since you don't feel like you are getting a workout until you crash at the end!

Day 30: Swinger

Yep, Max still naps in his swing. Or should I say, yep, the swing still holds big ol' Max. I made sure to buy a new swing before Max came that plugged into the wall since Carson's swing batteries died constantly. We couldn't use his after about 6 months because he was too heavy and it didn't have enough power. This thing has been awesome though!

I brushed up on a sleep book this weekend that said to "create positive associations" with the crib. The crib is an instant negative right now. Lately if I even lower Max down into it he starts to flip out so we spent some time in there today playing. I tried letting Carson get in there with him to play so he wasn't scared. We have to get him sleeping in his crib! The sleep books also say to introduce a lovely, but neither of our boys have every taken to any kind of blankie, doll or anything. This frog was a birthday present for Carson this year and Max has seemed to give it a little cuddle once in a while. Froggie is going to have to start spending some cuddly time with us more often. It's the only option for a lovie I have available right now.

He's so peaceful when he sleeps. And he has the puffiest sleep lips.

Our first Denver drive in

I totally forgot to post these ones from the last weekend!
Carl and I have been meaning to try out the one last drive in here in Denver for a while. We miss Motor Vu!!  We were bored last Saturday and they were showing Madagascar 3 as the first movie. We figured this was a great time to check it out so the kids could watch one and sleep for the other. Carson did good for most of the movie, but eventually decided to move ALL AROUND in the van. He eventually ended up watching cartoons in the back, just because he could. We had so much fun though! It was cool to realize we could still go to the movies with the kids this way. Before they came along we went to the movies all the time. These are all from my phone.
The boys' first drive in movie! Now this means summer.
Watching a cartoon in the back while at the movies. Who does that?
We got home so late that I didn't change Max out of his clothes and went right to bed. I couldn't resist the scene when I woke up.
Sleeping in his party clothes....again. #walkofshame

Day 29: The sun is raining

Apparently today was supposed to be 100 degrees. Ugh. I needed to go to the store and Carson hasn't been home for days so I didn't think he'd need too much stimulation. I brought along his swim trunks just in case and stopped at the umbrella fountains. He loved it, but the bad part is that the sun hadn't hit this part yet and he was freezing. As we left I saw that the bigger fountains at the bottom of the street were on and in the sun. Oops. We'll go there next time. I had fun just watching him and shooting from a distance.
