Day 90: Beaver Creek

8.18.2012

I'm behind 4 or 5 days of posting here! Yikes.

Since my birthday last week was on a Wednesday we planned on going for a drive and celebrating on Saturday. It seemed like forever since we went up and did a family thing instead of 4-wheeling. Over 2 years ago we got diverted through Beaver Creek when there was a wreck on the freeway, I think when coming home from Moab. Ever since I've wanted to go back because it looked gorgeous. I looked up the resort and found they had a ton of restaurants and even a children's museum going on for free. The summer months are quiet up at the resorts, but that's kind of nice. Seriously, Beaver Creek Resort DID NOT disappoint. It really felt like you walked into Little Switzerland. I could spend my life in there!

I wish I would have taken photos of the actual property and resort. I must have been too in awe. This was a quick one driving up the main road in.

We had lunch, aka the best pizza EVER that I'm still craving, and walked around for a long time.
Max at lunch was fascinated with stealing Carl's hat.

There is an adorable old German guy who walks around playing this horn. Carson was being super shy until he offered him a little green hat.

He let Carson blow in it with the mouth piece off and then told him to go look in the end. As you can imagine, when he looked the guy blew the horn and scared the crap out of Carson. haha

Then we headed up to the children's museum. I had no idea what to expect, but it was a real play room and awesome for free! I guess it's only open for the summer though.

And the new news??? Max is walking! But walking means he decides to let go, puts both hands straight up in the air and squeals. He loved this place and was letting everyone there know all about it!

Then we left and headed back through Avon and Vail and then to Georgetown. We've been up the beginning of Guanella Pass many times, but it's always been closed for snow. Right now it is open so we took this MUCH more scenic way home. We got a little rain and had to put on jackets. Man it feels good to be on top of the world!!!

Day 89: No rest

8.17.2012

Today was pretty uneventful. I grabbed a quick pic of Carson as I walked out of his class. I'm very grateful that he loves school so much and we're far from the days of "don't leave me!". I have to make him come back and tell me bye everyday.

But this week with Carson's preschool schedule it threw Max's naps way off. He is wide awake when Carson falls asleep and loves to hit him in the head. Today he kept trying to put a sippy straw in Carson's mouth and thought it was hilarious when I'd tell him no.

And the last pic was actually from last night. We were out late and hit up Sonic on the way home. Carson was pretty happy to sit up front with me and get a treat.

Day 88: Boooooring

8.16.2012

I had to run some shopping errands today. The only way to get Carson to play along is to promise him something fun at the end. Today was the promise of the pet store after my stores, and luckily they are all grouped together. It was "so bad" that he decided to find an empty shelf and lay down.
"Don't take a picture of me!"

And then......the pet store.

Max cracked me up. I got him out of the stroller and he wanted down so bad. He ran around with his bare feet to each fish tank squealing and pointing. I am not coming to terms with him not being a baby anymore.

I forgot about this one from breakfast. Max + raspberries = Hannibal Baby.
Hannibal Baby!!!

Day 87: Happy birthday, self.

8.15.2012

Well, yesterday was my uneventful 29th birthday. This is a weird birthday for me. It really seems like that joke birthday that I never thought I'd hit. I'm feeling old all of a sudden for sure. Unfortunately a normal Wednesday when I have a lot of work doesn't make for much fun. The only thing we did was go out to dinner, which was nice. We'll go for a day out and drive on Saturday to celebrate instead.

The boys didn't seem all that enthused by the looks of this photo......
Completely OD'd on Mexican food #birthdaydinner

On Tuesday night Carl showed up in a 6 Series...aka my very favorite BMW. We left the boys at home and went out for a while on our own. Nice ride, eh?!
Going out in style tonight!

Day 86: Preschool prep

08.14.2012

This morning we had our pre-preschool meeting before school starts next week. Carson was so excited to see his teachers and they were giddy to see him. He didn't skip a beat to get in there interacting and playing. Man, this kid really thrives with structure.......which you can imagine isn't totally easy for us here with me working. I try, okay!!!!

Max took the opportunity to try and pull/empty every single bin they had in the place.
Back to school meeting! One more week, but who's counting

After that I took Carson to play and get breakfast. I knew I had a ridiculous amount of work today again so I let him get all the wiggles out, so to say.

Post-nap snack. Right now Max is addicted to nectarines. The kid will eat as much as I put in front of him! He was telling me some kind of story here. I trimmed his bangs for the first time last night so they aren't quite so far down in his face. I absolutely love the little curls he has on the sides and in the back. Here they are more of a swoop.

Day 85: Almost there...

08.13.2012

Carson's preschool still doesn't start until August 21st!!!!!!!!! Arg.
Friday we stopped in to check out our rec center that was just remodeled and found out he could do a few mornings of preschool there this week while we wait. Last night he said he didn't want to go and again this morning insisted we should stay home. But he didn't really put up a fight to leave and seemed to have a great morning there. When we pulled up I told him I'd let him make a funny face if I could get a photo of his first day at "new preschool" (his words). He got Daddy to buy him this Spiderman lunch box a few weeks ago so he was stoked to get to finally use it.
And.....here is the result. LOL

Day 84: Loungin'

08.12.2012

The weather was beautiful yesterday. At night we were all out in front playing and I couldn't help but grab a shot of this. The sun was golden and perfect and Max kept putting his bare toes up in the air. He is apparently a fan of lounging with his feet up.

IMG_9891 web

And at one point during the day we were waiting to leave and I buckled Max in the van. He was not a fan. It was so funny to hear him grunt and try to get out. :)
Not funny Mom.

Day 83: Me day

08.11.2012

I didn't end up taking any photos of the boys on Saturday because I was out doing a photo shoot for most of the afternoon. I think I shot enough photos for my fill of the day! Carson got to go to Christy's to make cookies for the morning and Max got to hang out with Daddy by himself. It may sound strange that I get excited to work on a weekend, but I am absolutely having the time of my life doing what I love to do. I get out of the house alone for a day, get some girl time and hopefully grow my business!

Day 82: Cousins

08.10.2012

Carl had Friday off so we got up early, met Luke for breakfast, ran errands and hung out on a day that definitely felt like Saturday. I love that! The weekend felt really long for a change.

Then we had family movie night which included Porter, Christy's dog. It was super dark in our house, and Carson leaned back way too far, but you can see the two buddies. :)

Day 81: Zooriffic

08.09.2012

We went to the zoo again on Thursday morning. The weather was much cooler than I expected which is always a nice surprise. I only took iPhone pics this day though....

On the train
All aboard!
Can I just have one little cuddle???
This was our 4th trip in about 4-5 weeks and we still find new things each time we go! By the time we get to the lorakeet house every other time Max is asleep and you can't take strollers in. Carson made us stay in here FOREVER.

Day 80: Hat trick

08.08.2012

Wednesday night we all went out shopping to get Dustin ready to start school the next day. Carson latched on to this hat and luckily I brought my camera along. He doesn't look too happy though, eh?

Day 79: Shred it

08.07.2012

I am admittedly so behind on blogging photos that I don't totally remember what was going on in some of these!! I know I was crazy busy when I took this photo because Max was tearing the office apart and I didn't even care. Most important stuff is tucked away so it's just a matter of picking back up all the books, crayons, shreds of paper, etc. at the end of the day. I have to tie my computer cabinet doors shut and had to move all my important paperwork. If he gets a piece of paper he will SHRED it.

Day 78: On the right track

Well, I am at least caught up on posting everything as I actually write TODAY'S post today! haha

The biggest, most exciting, don't want to jinx it news of today.........
Max has slept all night in his crib for two whole nights!!!!!

Now to most people that should have happened from day 1, but we do it a little different in our family. I tried to get him in the crib two months ago and after many nights and weeks of fighting I decided to take a break to try again later. Then on Saturday night we went out to dinner with friends and got home late-ish. We skipped baths and decided to just put him in the crib and see what happens. He cried a little here and there throughout the night, but would fall right back to sleep without me having to go to him at all. Last night he did even better and didn't fully wake up until 6:30 when our louder-than-life garage door woke him up.
Please, for all things in this universe that want me to be a living and awake human being, let this be the real thing.

We then got right up and ready to go to Carson's 4-year check up. Originally we weren't going to have a check up this year, but he had to have one for preschool. I wasn't expecting shots so I told him he wasn't getting any. Well, he actually need 4. Oops. I guess our doctor likes to give them before kindergarten so we got them over with. The poor kid told him he'd be brave and screamed so freaking loud while they actually were done. Right after he was so sad and didn't want to have a picture alone. It was too cute with the tears and the bandaids so I scooped him up and we took one together in the mirror. He told me in the elevator that the bandaids made them feel better. :)
IMG_9294 web

To make it up to him, and because he has been listening really well for the whole weekend, I took him to play at Lollipop Park. Unfortunately there were only two other kids there and they both left early. On a positive note for him, the train was working this time.
IMG_9296 web

Then I had to do a little location scouting and he graced a photo with his amazing modelness. He's wearing my sunglasses and quite the grumpy face. He was ready for a nap at this point.
IMG_9315 web

Max was there too, just with me or in the stroller so he didn't make it in the pics today.

Max with Daddy on his new motorcycle!
The boys are their new toys.

Day 77: Nada again

We spent all of yesterday cleaning the house. We've been going and going for every single weekend lately so I begged Carl to let us stay home and do chores. It's sad when cleaning is something you want to do, but man does it feel good when it's done. We did all the crap you ignore like pulling out the fridge and we collapsed in our nice clean bed at the end of the night.

What I meant to say was I forgot to take a picture. :)

Day 76: Fixed

Yep, more of little dude sleeping. After all the sickness he still didn't sleep great on Friday night. He fell  deep asleep finally early in the morning and then wouldn't get out of bed. Carl had to work Saturday so after he got up Max turned sideways and planted himself in bed like this.
IMG_9247 web

Carl also got a motorcycle on Saturday. We went down to the shop when he finished up so I could oversee the selling paperwork. I'm the paper person in our household, aka I'm paranoid about bad titles and forms. hahaha
So Carson got to help Daddy "fix on" a BMW. Those two are quite the team.

Day 75: Cheeky Babe

So along comes Friday after thinking Max was either sick or teething all of Wednesday and Thursday. He seriously hardly slept AT ALL for nights and nights in a row, and so neither did I. Friday morning he seemed better, but by his morning nap he had this ghastly thing on his face:
IMG_9241 web

After much googling we came to the conclusion that he most likely had fifth's disease. Sounds much worse than it was after the fact. It is also referred to as "slapped cheek disease". I wonder why....

Can't this kid just get normal colds???????  The red patch went away by the afternoon and he came back to the old Max. Of course that night we also found a new molar totally through on the top that I had no idea was there. Teething screws with my head so bad!

Day 74: Sleep and Treat

On Wednesday I was nervous that Max was getting sick. He seemed to be getting a fever and had some other things going on, but it could all be chalked up to teething. I seriously hate teething! By dinner time he was acting really sleepy. At one point we looked over at him and he was totally glazed over. He was about done for the day.
Hello? Are you in there, little one?
IMG_9224 web

But then the boys broke out the Oreos. We let Max have his own and go at it for the first time. Let's just say.....he went at it. This was so funny to watch!
IMG_9237 web

Carson's first Oreo pics were closer to his second birthday which you can see here: http://wootenfam.blogspot.com/2010/03/oh-we-ohs.html. Either way they both like them equally as well even though none of us really like chocolate.

Day 73: Big difference

I'm shooting my first, and possibly only, wedding tonight for some family members. Shooting weddings is a totally different beast compared to families though. I had to rent a zoom lens because I shoot with primes. I was just packing up and realized just how big the discrepancy really was.

This is the 70-200 next to my trusty 50. LOL  Hopefully I can hold it steady!!!
IMG_8724 web

Day 72: Let it be

I am always amazed at how well Max plays by himself. I know that we didn't have nearly as many toys for Carson as a baby and I was much more of a hoverer. If he would pull everything out I would try to clean it right back up, even though that was pointless. Yesterday Max pulled most of the toy bins down and all the toys out and sat in a puddle of plastic. I let him be until he decided he was done.
My motto this time around is definitely 'if they aren't crying and aren't getting hurt, leave them alone'.
IMG_8695 web
I tried to take a photo of Max and he made the funniest face. I then realized Carson managed to get something in front of the camera...which he totally did on purpose. Mysterious, right? haha
IMG_8717 web
And another nap time shot.
More sleep. #nofilter

Day 71: Blame game

Carson blamed Max. I blamed Carson. Either way, an entire box of Cheerios lived on our floor for a while on Monday. That was a fun one to clean up. People often ask me how I have a job and run a business while taking care of these guys all day everyday. Some days, like this one, I really don't know!
