Random Carson

To start, Carson started saying ma-ma-ma-ma-ma this week! I WON!!!!!

Here is a sequence of Carson's new favorite past time: Kitty Hunting.
Now that he can get where ever he wants, he has trapped Lily on the stairs, in the corner behind the swing, on Carl...

She's nice, I promise!!! She lets him do it.

Once she is gone he will play with anything, apparently including my feet.

And yes, he is STILL fascinated with the camera.

Carson is also absolutely obsessed with putting any kind of cup Carl has in his mouth. Last night he screamed until Carl gave it to him. This was at our BBQ on Sunday. You may also notice a water bottle in many of the pictures here. He'll take that over anything too. He is perfectly content as long as he can chew on something he really shouldn't have. Go figure.

Here's one for Dad and Grandpa -
I found him double-fisting his football and baseball yesterday morning. :)
He is kind of like a dog now in that he spreads his toys out all over the floor and then rounds them back up.

You can see how much hair he has gotten lately in these pictures. It sticks straight up on top most days...

BIG developments this week

1. On Sunday Carson decided to start crawling forward! It is so cute and fun to watch him get so excited. All of a sudden he just figured out on his own how to put everything together and off he went!
Here is a video from last night. Turn on your sound and you can here him grunting with excitement!

2. Carson has 2 teeth! It seems like he has been "teething" for weeks now. He drools all over the place, chews on anything he can find and has been so cranky.
I thought I could feel something yesterday. Sure enough, there were his two front teeth on the bottom poking up on the surface. Hopefully once they break all the way through we will have a little relief in the sleep department... sigh.

Bengals Boys

We had so much fun on Sunday. We went to Old Chicago to watch the Bengals and Cowboys game since it wasn't on TV. This was a perfect opportunity to dress Carson up in his Bengals outfit for the first time. I bought the outfit last Christmas and got a 6-9 month size so it would fit during this football season. His little shoes are so cute! They look like baby cleats, have the Bengals logo on the side and look like a football on the back. We had to take pictures of the guys together!

Good luck Grandma Susan!

Grandma Susan is at the hospital today having full reconstructive breast surgery. She is beyond excited to get this done (finally) and she will look awesome very soon! She had implants put in over 20 years ago and found out in February that one of them had ruptured. It isn't doing any harm, but it was great motivation to have this all taken care of.

Anyway, I just wanted to post some juju for her. (And some for me since I'll be helping to take care of her for the next week! :)) Hopefully I can post some pictures in the weeks to come.

Baby Aerobics

Carson is another step closer to crawling. He is starting to get the hang of rocking back and forth and can move his back half. He just hasn't figured out how to add the arms part. He gets all the way up on his hands and toes and looks like he is doing baby push-ups. It is really cute!

He also can sit up in a tri-pod if you help him now. Before when you would do this he would immediately topple over head-first. Now he can sit like that and even reach out with one of his hands.

Five Month Pictures

I know I say this every time, but our little guy is getting so big! He is getting stronger every day and is so much fun. We love watching his cheeks get chubbier by the day. He is so fascinated by the camera that it is sometimes hard to get him to smile. He just wants to stare at it and try to get it to his mouth. :) Its a catch 22! He gave some pretty good attitude - I'm not sure where he got those eyebrows from either! ;)
Here are the new pics though...

Who is that baby?!?!

Wow. I just came across this picture from when we were first at home and I cannot believe the difference. I love looking at pictures to compare all the changes!

Sunday Football with Daddy

Carl is intent on getting Carson to crawl and walk VERY soon, but I think it may take a little longer than he wants. :) He does love to stand all the time though and can stand on his own if you balance for him. He has so much fun playing with his daddy on the weekends. (And mommy doesn't mind the extra set of hands either!) I think this kid is going to have to like sports whether he wants to or not. He will watch TV at any chance he gets too.

Like father, like son

Placing a beer bottle anywhere near Carson ends up going something like this. He LOVES them and it is totally natural, we haven't done anything to encourage it. I PROMISE! He knows where to put his mouth, gets the most focused look and goes crazy until he gets it to his mouth. It is actually really adorable.

He's a mover and a shaker

Carson is getting more and more mobile everyday. Yesterday I found him totally off his mat and on the fireplace stone. (Meaning I was just on the other side of the couches, he wasn't alone.) :) He is really good and going backwards and in circles, but hasn't got the hang of going forward yet. He can get his butt in the air and his knees under him, but then he lets go of his arms so he face plants it. He needs to learn to combine the two.

And this might be one of my favorite pictures yet:

New This Week

It seems like a lot as happened with Carson during the last week.

1. He found his toes. If he is even close to being in a position to reach them to his mouth, he will be sucking on them. It only took about a day and a half of putting them in his mouth for him and he figured it out on his own. I have changed numerous pairs of sock and footy PJs because they are soggy. :)

2. He found his voice. For about 3 days now Carson just shrieks for no apparent reason. He isn't screaming or crying, just yelling to hear himself talk. For the most part he has been a pretty quiet baby as far as cooing goes so it is so cute to hear him start trying to communicate.

3. He figured out how to blow bubbles. This really doesn't help us out in the whole drool department, but it is really cute.

4. It seems very likely that he will be crawling soon. He is always on his tummy (by his own fruition) and is trying so hard to push off. He seems like he has been so close so many times now. I always lay him down on the play mat on his back with his feet against the kick pad (the back side of where you can see the hand prints). Today I walked away for a second and this is where I found him when I returned... Since he rarely rolls tummy-to-back, he has to be getting around somehow.

5. He can sit up so well in his new infant seat. I decided to get him this seat so he can play and watch me while I am fixing dinner etc. The first day we tried it he was completely bent over. This was the second day and he is now doing so great! He loves to chew on the toys that he bends to his mouth. And did I mention the excessive amount of drool we are dealing with here???

6. He's up another size all of a sudden. This is just something I take note of, but we have only been using size 1 diapers for about 6 weeks and 0-3 month sized clothes for about 4 weeks now. It seemed like we used the newborn sized stuff forever. This week I bought size 2 diapers and he wore his first 3-6 month outfit. So much for those new outfits I just bought him! He is so long and skinny that all the clothes are too short and too wide. It all fits him really goofy.
